Announcement:
Crown Enterprises Ltd. is pleased to announce the recommencement of full service document destruction and paper recycling services through its new division, SecureShred.
Management is pleased to offer a brief history of the company's experience in the paper recycling business.
Crown Shred & Recycling, a former division of Crown Enterprises Ltd., was sold to Browning-Ferris Industries (BFI) on May 31, 1995.
The division was set-up in the fall of 1988 by Crown Enterprises Ltd. to carry out the company's paper recycling and confidential document shredding activities. Crown Shred & Recycling was a very successful operation during the Crown Enterprises ownership period. Although the division got off to a slow start with a first year gross tonnage of 990 tonnes, the division quickly expanded in subsequent years. Crown Shred expanded its clientele through the introduction of Regina's first user pay Blue Box program and the expansion of its facility at 320 Industrial Drive into Saskatchewan's largest MRF (materials recovery facility). The division's second MRF was set up at 1402 Fletcher Road in Saskatoon and provided much needed processing capacity for that City. Crown Shred and Crown Recycling, as the division has been often referred to, developed into the largest recycler and broker of waste paper in Saskatchewan, handling in excess of 1,700 tonnes of material per month until the division was eventually sold to BFI.
Although the division was sold under a 5-year non-competition agreement, Crown Enterprises retained the right to continue confidential document destruction services for its clients. BFI ran the recycling division under the Crown Shred & Recycling name for approximately a one-year period at which point they commenced using their trademarked name "BFI Recyclery".
BFI closed the Saskatoon location in early 1996 and continued to operate the Regina facility until April 30, 1998 when it was sold to 624817 Saskatchewan Ltd. 624817 Saskatchewan Ltd. resurrected Crown Enterprises Ltd.'s, once successful name, Crown Shred & Recycling, and has been operating under the name of Crown Shred & Recycling Inc., an unrelated company, since that date.
Crown Enterprises Ltd. is pleased to announce the creation of SecureShred, the company's new confidential document shredding and paper recycling division. SecureShred looks forward to serving Saskatchewan businesses from two locations in Saskatchewan, including its newly renovated and well-equipped facility at 320 Industrial Drive. Crown Enterprises Ltd. and its employees truly appreciate the past patronage and loyalty of its clientele and look forward to providing the service excellence that they expect.
